Volcanoes and Thunderings…

Okay, it’s been a while!  Seems like I have a few things to make up for my internet-hibernation-period for these past few months of winter drudge.. 6 (!!) months of winter, thank you very much, England!

Been stuck inside my N16 cave, drawing, drawing, drawing, drinking tea, drawing, contemplating dark and light, and drawing some more. I’ve also started the odd lino-cut and am getting more into that. All limited editions and stamped with my Marmalade Press “chop”.   And, FINALLY(!) a bit of sunshine, and we’re off!..  out with our tennis rackets down at Springfield Park..  Today marks the first day of Smyth-Piggot Cup…   complete with Herons and Woodpeckers flying above… the odd pervert stopping to stare… ah…  what inspiration…

First of all, we’ve celebrated the first two weeks of summer in London with Eyjafjallajokull, the volcano in Iceland which billowed ash clouds covering England and Europe, and brought all flights to a halt from flying over the country and parts of Europe for a week..

Most significantly, the flight bans bringing a huge fall in carbon emission, read more by clicking here:

Have also been working on a few things involving the new Voice of the Seven Thunders release (on Rick Tomlinson’s own label Tchantinler Recordings)  We can remember his debut Voice of the Seven Woods from Twisted Nerve/Finders Keepers records as an pretty sweet sun-drenched journey down the tunnel of sugar cubed acid finger pickin’ guitar, with tribal drums and Eastern jam riffin’…  now including the addition of Keith Wood from Hush Arbors on guitar, and Tom Relleen on bass from The Oscillation (DC Recordings) he kind of reappears with this new project VOTST and sort of cranks it up a level and throws you into full band jam, mid-peyote, thunderstorm of a commune head trip into psyche rock and experimental afterthought.. it even treats you to a beautiful come-down vocal track for the warm-down..  check out this totally hot (!!!) clip of a recent tiny little show in Cornwall:

Here is the hand-printed lino cut cd sleeve for the Rough Trade exclusive bonus disc, accompanying the release of Tchant001:

300 only!

and..

a T-shirt SO, SO beautifully printed by Gerv, they left us examining them like surgeons and ooh-ing and awe-ing at the meticulous execution of such an artifact. Truly..  (ha!)  Buy them off the Tchantinler site, they’re £15 including postage.. WOWSERS!

organic cotton, printed by Gerv, design by Alex Jako

One more thing for VOTST, a portrait, for production (coming soon..) for a zine this guy is going to get printed.. at some point.. watch that space!

Top Right and clockwise: Tom, Keith, Rick, Mook

That’s it so far, for my 7Thunder things, aside from a little image for a lithoprinted inner-sleeve of the vinyl version, and what a beauty the whole package is..  if you are lucky to get one before they dissappear (70′s stock paper gatefold design by Brad Sanders, litho-printed insert on beautiful paper, hand-numbered, download voucher, sliced by the man Rick himself!) Geez, collectors behold!..

released by Tchantinler Recordings...

That’s enough Nature for today, folks! Keep your heads up for further posts (making up for lost time) over the next few days…
